A reminder that while Minnesota lakes can be a wonderful opportunity for winter recreation, the ice on stormwater ponds is unpredictable and the Carver County Water Management Organization recommends residents not play or even walk on frozen stormwater ponds.
In contrast to natural lakes, these ponds are designed to collect and treat runoff which flows year round, even in the winter. Factors such as currents, turbulence, and road salt result in highly variable ice thickness and consistency that can change from day to day.
Please keep your family, friends and pets safe by staying off stormwater ponds!
